Skilled nursing facilities provide a wide range of care to residents, and medications are a critical part of that care. Since there are many factors that influence prescribing, utilization, and monitoring of medications in facilities, it’s important for attending physicians, medical directors, and consultant pharmacists to have complementary roles in the care process. In this session, we’ll discuss in particular how the medical directors, other practitioners, nursing teams, and consultant pharmacists can best collaborate to optimization medication use among residents for the best possible care and outcomes.
