During the summer of 2023, all skilled nursing facilities will be preparing their staff, managers, and documentation processes for the October 1, 2023, conversion to the MDS 3.0 1.18.11. Managers need to track the new requirements for data and assessment reference periods to adjust internal systems. Facility staff need to be prepared and have time to learn the new definitions, time frames, and changes to documentation. Planning and training as well as awareness of all the new data items need to be presented systematically to the staff. This session will identify and discuss the systematic approach with examples of training materials and competency documentation.

Key Learnings:

  • Review data and formulation changes that impact facility policy and procedures
  • Identify training and management approaches to prepare documentation systems and data format for 10-1-2023 requirements
  • Establish awareness of all staff to changes in timing of data collection and new definitions impacting data formulation
