When you step into the role of DON, there is a lot waiting for you. You need to learn your way around the facility; you need to meet your staff and other leaders. Then a concern comes up, and you’re not sure where anything, who to call, what the policy is, etc. Understanding the questions to ask, the information to gather, and the groundwork to cover can help you overcome the inevitable challenges that come your way.

This presentation will review the first 4 weeks of being in a new facility or in the new role of DON. Join us as we walk through those weeks and review different tasks and areas that you need to become familiar with to make you successful.

Learning Objectives:
1. Describe 3 pieces of facility information you need to learn immediately
2. List 3 critical areas that need to be monitored
3. Name 3 systems that involve resident safety
