This session will address one of the top issues for facilities today. Not only does cost containment impact an organization’s bottom line, but fiscal responsibility is essential to providing top quality care to residents. Central to this effort is the alignment of the consultant pharmacist, medical director, and director of nursing in the practice and administration of medication.
To help facilities identify best practices, this webinar will share effective cost containment strategies, including topics such as refill on demand versus cycle fill, medication returns for credit, the integration of EMR and pharmacy to improve efficiencies, medication reconciliation, adjudication principles, prior authorization, therapeutic interchanges, and topical product formularies. The session will also provide suggestions on how to operationalize these approaches for the most effective impact.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the influence of cost control strategies in the practice of nursing
- Recognize and apply mechanisms to contain costs
- Learn how to integrate proven practices into rounds, morning meetings, and other opportunities to engage staff
